Can a returning subscriber be prevented from receiving the trial again after cancellation?

Yes. A subscription can be configured so that a player receives the trial only on their first subscription, and if they cancel and later subscribe again, the new subscription starts without a trial.

Expected behavior

• On the first purchase, the player starts with the trial period.
• If the player cancels during the trial, or cancels later after paying, and then subscribes again in the future, the next subscription can start without a trial.

Important limitation

This behavior is not configured as separate segmentation for each plan inside a single subscription plan.

At the time of the support guidance, plan-by-plan segmentation within one subscription was not available as a self-serve configuration. If a use case requires different segmentation behavior per subscription option, that may require either:

• setting the options up as separate subscriptions (separate subscription IDs), so store segmentation rules can be applied independently, or
• additional product development for a different setup.

When to use this setup

Use this approach when you want to keep the same subscription offering available to players, but ensure the introductory trial is shown only to first-time subscribers and not to returning subscribers who previously canceled.
