Creator attribution, promo codes, and shop rotation limits

Creator attribution, promo codes, and shop rotation limits

This article summarizes the current supported behavior for creator attribution, promo code usage, and time-based item availability in the store.

Creator attribution via referral link

It is possible to attribute a player to a creator via a referral link immediately after the player follows that link.

  • By default, attribution is based on the most recent creator link used by the player.
  • If a player later follows another creator's link, the attribution is reassigned to the last creator link used.

In other words, the current attribution model is last link wins (LIFO).

180-day creator lock

A lock that prevents changing creator attribution for 180 days via referral link has been shipped to production.

  • This lock applies to attribution changes made by following creator links.
  • However, direct promo code entry can still override attribution.

If your project requires a strict 180-day creator binding with no override path, that is not the current behavior.

Promo code behavior

Promo codes are configurable.

  • They can be configured as one-time use.
  • They can also be configured as multi-use.

Because the checkout promo code field remains available, entering another creator's promo code can still affect attribution even when link-based attribution is locked.

Shop rotation and purchase limits

Time-based limitations for store items are supported.

  • An item can be configured to be visible only on a schedule, for example appearing once per week.
  • An item can also be configured so that it is purchasable only on a schedule, for example purchasable once per week.

Both visibility limits and purchase-frequency limits can be implemented depending on the project requirements.

Not currently feasible in the short term

The following creator-program features were explicitly identified as not feasible in the near term:

  • A permanent 5% store discount tied to creator subscription.
  • A bonus granted when subscribing to a creator.
  • Additional influence cashback points for the creator subscription flow.
  • A special cashback bonus for switching to another creator.

These requests would require additional product work and were not committed as short-term deliverables.
