How GA4 first_visit is counted across GameHub and web checkout

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) automatically collects the first_visit event for web users. In Aghanim flows, this event can span both GameHub and web checkout depending on how the user reaches checkout.

When GameHub and checkout are counted together

If a user opens web checkout by navigating from GameHub, GameHub and checkout use the same GA4 property and continue with the same client/session identity. In this case, GA4 treats the journey as one continuous visit, so first_visit is not counted separately for GameHub and checkout.

When checkout is counted separately

If a user opens a checkout link directly, without first coming from GameHub, that checkout visit gets its own client identity. In that case, GA4 can record a separate first_visit for the direct checkout visit.

Summary

  • From GameHub to checkout: counted as one continuous GA4 visit.
  • Direct checkout link: can be counted as a separate first_visit.
