Why an email authentication prompt appears when opening an unpublished Game Hub

If players open a Game Hub that is still unpublished or running in a sandbox, they may see an authentication page asking for an email address.

This behavior is expected. It is used to prevent random players from accessing the hub before it is ready to go live.

When this happens

  • The hub is unpublished.
  • The hub is being accessed in a sandbox or pre-live environment.

When this should not happen

A published live hub does not show this login window in normal use.

How to test before launch

You can still validate the flow before publishing. For testing purposes, you only need to log in once in the unpublished or sandbox hub, and you should not need to log in again afterward.

Why this exists

The extra authentication step helps protect pre-release hubs from being accessed by unintended users before launch.

Recommended rollout

It is fine to publish the hub closer to launch day if that matches your release plan.
